The Gtr Manchester Fringe Festival

The Greater Manchester Fringe Festival is coming to town this July!

Manchester’s growing fringe scene is set for a real boost in 2012. This July, for the first time ever, nine of Manchester and Salford’s premier performance venues have come together to stage the Greater Manchester Fringe!

For the whole of July, these venues will work hand in hand with artists to deliver a true multi arts fringe festival that will encompass covering an eye-popping range of genres, including drama, revivals, new writing, comedy, live music, visual arts, Edinburgh previews, kino cinema and literature events.

The initiative has been conceived by a core of venues including the Lass O’Gowrie, Sand Bar, the Dancehouse, the Kings Arms, Taurus, O’Sheas, FAB Café, Tiger Lounge and Satan’s Hollow, and is anticipated to make July a permanent home for fringe in our cities.  Support has also been forthcoming from the 24:7 Theatre Festival and from There will be the opportunity for other venues to get involved and the Fringe is keen to hear from new and established artists alike.

The Lass O’Gowrie’s Gareth Kavanagh explains the inspiration behind the Greater Manchester Fringe; “The potential to fill venues with the best of local, national and international fringe production in July is just mouth-watering!  We’re also passionate about providing performers with an affordable platform for their talent in the important pre-Edinburgh period.  It’s exciting and we just can’t wait to see how this develops over the next few months!”

The Fringe will be launching a dedicated website at Easter which will explain how artists and other venues can get involved.  This will be available at www.thegreatermanchesterfringe.co.uk.  In the meantime, the organisers can be contacted with any queries at  gmfringe@gmail.com
