SPARKLE - THE NATIONAL TRANSGENDER CHARITY PRESENTS ARTISTS FOR TDOR ‘WE 2 R 1’
Every year, hundreds of trans people throughout the world are murdered due to their gender identity, or choose to take their own lives to end their suffering.
Every year, during the annual Transgender Day of Remembrance on 20th November, the global trans community comes together to remember those lost; to say to those who have died needlessly, often buried without formal identification or as their preferred gender, that they were known to us.
Incensed by this injustice, producer Mx-Ze (Sparkle – The National Transgender Charity Trustee Paulette Richards) came together with trans vocalists T Party London to record ‘We 2 R 1’, a call to arms, a cry for understanding and acceptance of the trans community.
T Party London are Farrah Mills, Antonia Wood, and Viktor Victoria; the winning vocal group from this year’s Arts Council England-supported Sparkle Music Awards.
Producer Mx-Ze said “I started this initiative to raise awareness of the terrible things that are happening to innocent trans and non-binary people throughout the world. Cold-blooded murder, and transphobic hatred and violence, have no place in civilised society,
“By supporting ‘We 2 R 1’ you’re also supporting equality, and saying a BIG NO to intolerance and bigotry of any kind.”
Artists for TDoR’s ‘We 2 R 1’ will be available to pre-order from 11th November 2017 and as a digital download on the Transgender Day of Remembrance, 20th November 2017.
Funds raised from downloading the single will be used to support trans charities, and a percentage of profits will be donated to Transgender Europe’s Trans Murder Monitoring Project.Read More
