Sir Ian McKellen and AKT

Sir Ian McKellen has recorded a video to encourage people to support the UK’s Albert Kennedy Trust by holding a fundraising party in their own home.

This year marks AKT’s 25th anniversary, and to commemorate this, it has launched a range of fundraising initiatives. This includes the AKT Party week from 22-28 September.

In the promotional video, Trust patron McKellen says that he himself is planning to hold a tea party at his home during the week, and encourages other to hold their own event, such as a dinner party, cocktail party or bake sale. The idea is to charge friends to attend and donate the money to the AKT. This will help it to continue its work – providing an estimated 12,000 nights off the streets over the coming 12 months.

For more ideas, or to register, go to www.aktparty.com - and watch the video below. To find out more about the Albert Kennedy Trust, or if you are interested in becoming a carer with them, go to www.akt.org.uk
