Safe to sing with MLGC

Safe to sing with MLGC

Using singing to fight homophobia and reclaim our city after the horrific homophobic attack on 2 lads who sang songs from 'Wicked' on the tram.

The 'Safe to sing' event. has been Organised by the Manchester Lesbian and Gay Chorus, for the LGBT community to express their outrage at homophobia and their solidarity to Jake and Jo who suffered the attack. It is proposed to sing on the trams and through Piccadilly Gardens, making our way to Canal Street, culminating at Taurus Bar.

Manchester Lesbian and Gay Chorus Musical Director Loz Kaye said:

"All of Manchester has been horrified by this vicious attack. For us in the chorus it was all the more sad that it was the act of singing that sparked it.But the answer to hate has to be hope, support and asserting the right to love. That is what music and song gives.

As it says in the lyrics of the musical Wicked 'you can't pull me down'. Nobody is going to pull us down."

Please visit our Facebook page for the latest news on the event.
