Queen Bee for the LGBT community

Queen Bee for the LGBT community

Former Lord Mayor, Carl Austin-Behan has recently been a part of getting Bee in The City here in Manchester and as a result an opportunity has presented itself for community groups who could have one for £4000 (+ £1000 /£1500 for design / painting / fixing down etc).

What is proposed is to see if 120 people will pay £50 each – to have their name / business associated with it / or in memory of a loved one….

There could also be a tier system  with 4 Main sponsors at £500, 8 sponsors at £250, then other people / groups paying £50 to raise what is needed and possibly creating a contingency fund?

This could either be in the form of a plaque / or have honey comb shapes on the base?

The finances could be done via JustGiving / Crowd Funding with the extra benefits as a result.

Ideas would start as a blank canvas which could be painted however required and the idea of a Rainbow Bee – known as Queen Bee  has been mooted(but we could get a local artists within our community to come up with a design and then who ever has the design chosen would be commissioned to paint it)

With this – as it’s a Community Bee the community would retain it and could have it placed either on Canal Street or in Sackville Gardens for everyone to appreciate it.

Subject to payment:  Carl can confirm that within 72 hours he has secured the £2500 for the Sponsors of the @beeinthecitymcr #LGBTQ+ #QueenBee You can still be part of this as a partner - please see his Facebook page Carl Austin-Behan @canalstmancs @FOMcrGayVillage

If you would like more details or have ideas, drop an email to carl@austin-behan.uk .

This is an idea in its infancy and would be great for Manchester's Gay Village and our LGBTQ+ Community.

Your thoughts please…. If you think it's got legs or wings ?
