Pride Games Athletics
As part of Pride Games 2013, Open Athletics offers this year a range of athletics options: Road running (a 5k Race in Alexandra Park open to men and women), a fun relay race also at Alexandra Park, and finally a Track and Field Event including sprinting, middle distance running, jumps and throws.
5k and Relay race at Alexandra Park, Wednesday 5 June
The Pride Games edition of the Alexandra Park 5k series returns to the origins of this emblematic Manchester 5k event with a mixed 5k for men and women.
The Alexandra Park 5k and the relay course are flat as a pancake and within a park setting. Open Athletics welcomes not only solo runners but also brave contestants for the relay race. Relay teams of 3 will cover 1 mile each before passing a fun baton successively until the last runner crosses the 5k post.
Track and Field Meeting, Sportcity Sunday 9 June
The 2013 Pride Games T&F Meeting is the 7th edition of this annual event and this year is the closing event of Pride Games and not to be missed! The Meeting is open to all levels of ability, experience and sexual orientation; and encourages everyone to come along and have a go at all the events. Coaching for absolute beginners will be provided as well the chance to have a go and/or compete.
Events include: Track (3,000m, 1,500m, 800m, 100m hurdles, 400m, 200m, 100m and 4x100m relays) and on the Field (javelin, shot put, hammer and discus; long jump, triple jump and high jump).
