Pink Dog Show
Take Your Marks for Manchester’s ‘Pink Dog Show’ at Pride
The Pink Dog Show, held annually by Manchester and Cheshire Dogs’ Homes during the Manchester Pride festival, will come complete with a fitting Olympics theme this summer.
The show, now in its fifth year, is believed to be the biggest ‘pink’ dog event in the world in terms of visitor numbers, beating rival cities Brighton and Sydney to the accolade.
More than 1,000 visitors attended Manchester’s Pink Dog Show in 2011, with this year’s August 19 festivities expected to be even bigger.
Lisa Graham, Home Manager at Manchester Dogs’ Home, Harpurhey, says: “We’re growing and getting bigger and better year on year and that’s just fantastic. The LGBT communities have been wonderful supporters of the Dogs’ Homes for a long time now and the Pink Dog Show is a great opportunity for our staff and volunteers to get to know people in a really fun environment.”
The Pink Dog Show, organised by Manchester Dogs’ Home in association with Bloom Street bar New York New York, will be hosted by Viva la Diva and Peggy Wessex. There will be plenty of fun and games, including a ball and cup dash and a doggie fashion parade. Prizes and medals will go to those dogs scooping first, second and third place.
The event takes place in Sackville Gardens, Manchester, from noon till 4pm, with registration at 11am.
