Olympic Torch tool against homophobia
Olympic Torch proves valuable tool in fight against homophobia
Oldham Olympic Torch Bearer Jason Bromley who carried the torch in the relay in Buxton on June 29th this year, has kindly donated his torch to Pink Triangle Theatre.
"Being a co-founder of the company and being passionate about the work we do, also taking into consideration that Pink Triangle Theatre was one of the reasons I was nominated to be a torch bearer in the first place, it seemed only fair to incorporate it into the workshops we facilitate after the shows we perform. We took it down with us on our recent tour of Essex primary schools and the young people just loved it. It really helps to reinforce the message we portray, that Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender people are just like you" he said.
Following the massive success of its inclusion in this recent tour, Pink Triangle Theatre will be taking the torch along to every future performance.
The incredible feedback we collected from all of the schools in Essex, and from the Anti-Bullying conference held at Mahdlo and arranged by Hulme Grammar School which we performed at just before we left for the south, has been formatted into PDF's and is available to view on our website: http://www.pinktriangletheatre.co.uk/?page_id=16
Paul Burgess, Originator of Pink Triangle Theatre and Jasons' husband said; "This tour of Essex primary schools was a big thing for PTT, we had to change the show a little to make it more suitable, and we were totally thrilled that Thurrock local authority were taking this opportunity to educate young people about issues all too often left out of the classroom. We are already penned in to return to Essex for work in more schools, and are all delighted to have the Olympic Torch as one of our tools."
