Nowt as Queer as Fringe

Nowt as Queer as Fringe, 22 March
Date: 12 December 2011

Three popular Manchester Fringe companies who bring a unique voice to Manchester’s gay community are teaming up for an exciting new project. Queer as Fringe will bring together Vertigo Theatre Productions, Dream Avenue Productions and Pink Triangle Theatre.

The mini festival will celebrate gay writing in the form of six fifteen minute plays (two from each company) that cover romance, drama and outrageous comedy.

If successful, the companies hope to expand the event annually introducing more venues, more writers with the aim of  showcasing what Manchester has to offer when it comes to gay theatre. This year writers include Craig Hepworth, Lloyd Eyre Morgan, Paul J Burgess, Adele Stanhope and Stuart Crowther amongst others.

Each company has revealed one play that will be a part of Queer as Fringe, Lloyd Eyre Morgan of Dream Avenue will bring his play Heart Shaped Craving to the event, Craig Hepworth from Vertigo will be presenting the drama Numb and Stuart Crowther will bring comedy and drama in the play Stephen Fucking Sondheim.

Tickets for the Queer as North event which runs from 22 - 24 March, 2012 will go on sale in January via Quaytickets.
