New Trustees for Pride

MANCHESTER PRIDE WELCOMES NEW TRUSTEES

Manchester Pride has announced the appointment of two new trustees to its board - Russell Craig and Margaret Scott.

Russell is the Group Head of External Communications at the Manchester Airports Group and will provide direction and guidance on the Festival’s stakeholder engagement and communications activity. Margaret is a Senior Manager with Deloitte in Manchester and will provide financial advice and services to the festival.

Commenting on his appointment, Russell Craig said: "I decided to apply for the post back in February and it's a real honour to be officially joining the Pride board during its 21st year. I'm looking forward to being part of a great team who create a series of brilliant events that both raise money for charities and awareness of LGBT issues in a positive way. Pride has helped to put Manchester on the international map and I hope that my experience with the Manchester Airports Group will further support this important aspect of the organisation's work."

Margaret Scott said: “Manchester Pride is part of the fabric of Manchester. The annual parade is a fantastic event that includes people from all backgrounds and ages and it’s this sort of inclusion that is at the core of Pride. I’d love to see this continued – alongside, of course, the money raised for LGBT charities – and become even bigger. Manchester Pride has received international recognition, which is a huge endorsement for Manchester and, in particular, its LGBT community. I am immensely proud to be part of it.”

Vicken Couligian, Chair of Manchester Pride, said: “As we approach our 21st birthday I’m delighted to be welcoming two new trustees to our board. Both Russell and Margaret have extensive experience in their chosen field and I’m confident that their added expertise will steer the festival forward. I’m very much looking forward to working closely with them in the future.”

Russell and Margaret will join the board of trustees which is headed up by Vicken Couligian (Chair). Other trustees include: Clare Simpson (Marketing Director for the Royal Exchange Theatre), Elaine Clarke (Chief Executive for Baa Bar Group Plc), John Ryan (Managing Editor of BBC Radio Manchester), Les Pratt (Producer for BBC Radio 3), Steph Kay (Owner of Vanilla bar), Tim Pickstone (Chief Executive of a UK local councillors organisation), and Michael Pollard (Operations Director at Taurus bar).

Tickets for Manchester Pride’s Big Weekend go on sale on 1 May and can be purchased via www.manchesterpride.com or at various venues around the city. For up-to-date information, follow the festival on Twitter: @ManchesterPride
