Countdown for the return of North Wales PRIDE!

Bangor is preparing for the return of North Wales PRIDE for the second time after the overwhelming success of the first event in October 2012.

North Wales PRIDE is organised by a small voluntary group called Cymru PRIDE Wales and the event returns on the 26th and 27th July at Hendre Hall, Bangor. This year will feature new acts including X Factor’s controversial contestant Kitty Brucknell who will be hosting and performing on Saturday 27th.
Cymru PRIDE Wales are excited to announce their headlining act this year will be Aled Haydn Jones from Radio 1’s Surgery.  Aled was part of the Chris Moyles Breakfast Show on Radio 1 for 8 years and has also made a number of TV appearances which includes being a judge on S4C’s Wawffactor, Big Brother’s Little Brother and a guest on Top of the Pops. Aled will be on stage in the main room at Hendre Hall on the Saturday night.

The aim of the event is to celebrate diversity and break down the barriers to discrimination and reach out to as many areas of the community as possible.

Cymru PRIDE Wales chair Carwyn Humphreys said “We as an organisation are extremely excited to be bringing the event back for a second time! Our first PRIDE event in 2012 proved to be a tremendous success and better than anticipated. We are very grateful for the support of local businesses and organisations, the positive feedback and demand from those who attended and of course our volunteers who without them all PRIDE wouldn’t have been possible.

We are proud to be bringing the festival back to Bangor. It’s such a diverse and vibrant city not to mention the unique setting on the foothills of Snowdonia. We have been planning this year’s event since last December and everything is going exceptionally well. There are more volunteers and businesses involved demonstrating that this festival has grown since last October.”

Other acts announced is local singer Meinir Gwilym and the L-Project.  There will be a drag artiste and other local artists performing plus activities for all the family including circus skills.

Tickets for North Wales PRIDE 2013 are now available online (www.northwalespride.com). Prices are £15 weekend ticket (Fri night through to Saturday Night) and a Saturday night only ticket for £8.  Camping will also be available at the event for £5 per person for two nights (Friday & Saturday). Entry for under 18’s is free with a full paying adult as our commitment to support families. Tickets will also be sold on the door for Friday night (8pm-late) and Saturday day (12pm-5pm) for £5 each.

North Wales PRIDE is currently looking to recruit businesses or organisations to have a stall at the event and if anyone has spare time on their hands to volunteer. E-mail address is northwalespride@hotmail.co.uk.
