Mandy Tootill is such 'an idiot' she says

In 2009 at the age of 30 Mandy Tootill was diagnosed with breast cancer, she had to undergo gruelling chemotherapy followed by surgery and other treatments.

Having come through the other side now and am happy to say that she is 9 years clear of cancer, she then started performing comedy, and discovered that she loved perfroming and making people laugh, and has continued ever since.

Having never really spoken openly about her breast cancer, and to celebrate the 5 years clear mark, Mandy decided to stand on stage and tell jokes about it in front of a crowded room, many of her newer friends at the time didn't even know about the cancer.

When she came off stage, not only did her audience laugh and engage with her, but one audience member approached her about finding her own lump and was quickly encouraged to go and have this checked out.

Overwhelmed by this positive response the idea of a solo show was born - Twin Peaks.

Twin peaks is a story about an idiots journey through breast cancer and the coming out on the other side. Mandy Toothill is such an idiot, infact she is a self proclaimed nob.

"People are frightened of Cancer, of talking about it, of the word itself. What I set out to do with the show is to break down these barriers of talking about a difficult subject using comedy".

From lesbian sex wearing marigolds to a mannequins head called Celine, Mandy share's with the audience her own inappropriate behaviour in an endearing way.

So what has happened?

The response so far has been overwhelming. A lot of people have reached out to her and thanked her for talking about cancer in such an honest , original and funny way.

Mandy recently perfromed at Barnaby Festival and Buxton Fringe where it got a really great positive review: Click here to read.

Mandy also recently performed Twin Peaks at LFEST in North Wales which is the UK only lesbian music festival

She will perform as part of this years Greater Manchester Fringe.Click below for details.
