LGBT Adoption and Fostering Week
NFS organises the annual 'LGBT Adoption and Fostering Week'. As in previous years, there will be a free, flagship information event in Manchester for prospective adopters and foster carers.
Are you LGBT in the Manchester area & considering adoption or fostering?
New Family Social is holding a free information seminar at the LGBT Foundation on 9 March just for you. The seminar takes place during LGBT Adoption & Fostering Week, the annual awareness campaign that encourages more LGBT people to explore both parenting options. While 1 in 10 adoptions in England in 2016 were to same-sex couples, there are still over 70,000 children currently in care.
Experts estimate a shortfall of some 9,000 foster carers across the country so there is a real need for more LGBT adoptive parents and foster carers. You don’t have to be the perfect parent – you just have to be able to meet a child’s particular needs. At the event you can hear from LGBT people who are adoptive parents and foster carers - as well as talk to local experts from agencies that’ll welcome you.
