The Lancashire LGBT Centre

The Lancashire LGBT Centre is a community-led and community-focused charity which aims to provide services and events for LGBT people across Lancashire. Our mission is to create opportunities for LGBT communities in Lancashire to be happier, healthier and self-empowered. We work to create a visible presence for LGBT communities in Lancashire and to create understanding of LGBT equality issues and to end homophobia, biphobia and transphobia.

We recently set up the UK’s first ‘pop-up’ LGBT Centre in the heart of Preston City Centre to run throughout the whole of LGBT History Month. The pop-up centre was a great success with hundreds of people from across Lancashire visiting and taking part in the range of events and activities on offer. The temporary project provided strong support for the need for a permanent LGBT centre in Lancashire.

We organise LGBT events including the recent ‘Pandemonium’ evening of music and comedy and every year we organise the Red Ribbon Cabaret in Blackburn and Preston. We also provide a LGBT drop-in every month for people to socialise and access information and support.

We have a dedicated team of trustees and volunteers who are keen to develop the range of services and events we offer. Over the next two years we are planning to organise more events including a Lancashire Pride and our ultimate goal is to develop a LGBT Centre in Lancashire.

We have recently been funded to carry out research to find out LGBT people’s views about life in Lancashire and we are looking for people to take part in our online survey. The survey takes about 10-15 minutes to complete and all responses are anonymous. Please take the time to take part in the survey – your views are important for our work. The survey can be accessed at:

We are looking for people – lesbian, gay, bi, trans and straight - to get involved in developing the charity’s work and services. If you would like to find out more, contact us at lancashirelgbt@yahoo.co.uk or visit our website at www.lancashirelgbt.co.uk
