Jamie's Italian to open
We're getting close to opening Jamie's Italian in Manchester now - very exciting!
This is a real high profille, gem of an opening. The building on King Street was reputedly known as the 'King of King Street' and has been empty since 2008.
The Grade 2 listed former Midlands Bank building was designed by renowned architect Edwin Lutyens in 1928. It's spread magnificently over three levels, the ground floor banking hall, mezzanines antechambers - formally the Clerk's offices and the basement vault room. The triple volume banking hall has striking columns clad in statutory marble and exquisite mahogany wall panelling. Large arches on the mezzanine level link the mezzanine antechambers and banking hall and ooze style from every corner!
A magnificent marble staircase leads to the basement strong room and adjoining counting rooms.
Jamie said "I've wanted to open a Jamie's Italian in Manchester for years but we've never found the right location, until now. It's going to be a wonderful place to eat and one of the jewels in the Jamie's Italian collection".
