Gaydio needs your story
If you’ve come out as Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual or Transexual – then Gaydio wants to hear from you!
Last year Gaydio worked with volunteers to document the history of Manchester’s gay scene. We interviewed LGBT people from all generations who shared their memories of the evolving scene and the changing attitudes of society around them. As well as producing a documentary which was broadcast on Gaydio, we also created a web site (http://yourstory.gaydio.co.uk ) where all the audio was shared and we toured an exhibition in libraries across Manchester.
This year we’re expanding the project and documenting the history of Liverpool’s gay scene – but we’re also collecting coming out stories from people across Greater Manchester.
The aim is to capture diverse stories which will inspire and offer encouragement to those members of our community who are struggling with their sexuality and feel unable to come out. We also want to preserve our social history – and it’s not just about big events or famous people it’s about real things happening to real people.
This is where you come in! We’re looking for people of all ages, genders, races and backgrounds to tell their personal story. You have to be prepared to talk openly and honestly about your sexuality and have one of our volunteers record the conversation. We’ll then include you in a documentary which will be broadcast on Gaydio and make your interview available to listen to online.
If you want to take part and tell YOUR story then please contact emma@gaydio.co.uk.
