The first-ever openly gay American to seek nomination to run for President of the United States has been speaking to the BBC's only regular LGBT current affairs magazine programme.

Fred talks about his early struggles to come to terms with being gay, why he stayed in the closet for so long and how he intends to liven up the US Presidential race. He also talks about working with Hollywood legend and gay actor Rock Hudson during the 70s.

The team also hear from San Francisco's gay scene and there's music from Adele and Katy Perry.
