Female Takeover on Gaydio

To celebrate International Womens’ Day this coming Tuesday 8th March, Gaydio is being taken over by the women at the station. From the presenters through to the artists played – even the station’s jingles are being changed.

Gaydio Breakfast kicks off from 7am with presenter Chris Holliday’s regular co-hosts Emma and Sara in the driving seat, waking up Manchester and the UK. From 10am, Kriss Herbert’s Producer and alternative music show presenter, Meera Pattni takes control.

From 1pm, the station’s regular lunchtime discussion show ‘The Exchange’ will be taking a look at some of the important issues that face lesbian, bisexual and trans women including workplace equality, cervical screening, same sex parenting and the history of the women's movement.  Between 3 and 6, Nicksy will be handing over the reins of his award-winning afternoon show to Happy Monday’s vocalist and X Factor finalist Rowetta for a drive home full of surprises.

Programming continues into the evening and includes a guest mix from Steph Smith on The Sessions, the best music of black origin in The Groove with Lydia Rullow, and Emma Peate rounds off the day’s events from 11. The full line-up can be seen on the station’s website at www.gaydio.co.uk and the day's programming is supported by the Lesbian and Gay Foundation.

Toby Whitehouse, Station Director says “Its really important that we reflect the lives of women in our day-to-day programming. International Womens’ Day is a great opportunity to really make something of that and hear the stories and music of some inspirational women from around the world presented by Gaydio’s own inspirational women.”
