GLLF Fashion Update:

Well it’s the first day of spring this week, and as I look out my window the sun is shining on Canal Street and you can instantly see that the coats and winter woollies are peeling off and the spring & summer fashions are starting to creep out onto the promenade.

For those of you that don’t know me, I work as a project manager and having worked previously in fashion industry projects, I missed the life, so I started my own facebook page and keep myself up to date and keep up with the gossip and trends. I linked my love of designer labels  to the love of gay life in general and called my facebook group “Gay Living, Lifestyle and Fashion” or GLLF for short.

For something that started as a bit of fun and a hobby, membership is going well and we are past the 500 member status, but anyone who wants to boost this feel free. Remember its not an “add-me” page, so don’t be shallow, but you can post anything you want so long as its Uber-Cool and fun. If you do join feel free to scroll through all the wall posts and discussion topics which all have some relevance even if they have been on the wall for a while now.

For those of you that know and understand a bit about the fashion circuit, the big shows are usually six months ahead of the high street, and the season for this year started in the autumn of 2010. Of course what you get is the big designers creating something that no person in their right mind would actually wear, but what happens then is the high street designers take the image and the looks and make them a bit more main stream and saleable.

So that brings me on to what is going to be the Uber-cool of clothing this year:

Last year, the cotton harvest was pretty dreadful, this had the effect of pushing up cotton price and therefore all the high street retailers have followed the show trend and gone for anything to save money. As a result, manmade fibre, wool, shiny material and anything alternative is going to be en-vogue this year, and for cotton, the trim is going to be cropped, tight and short to save money on commodities.

This year therefore Crops, Shorts and Tight jeans will be coming back! Man made materials will be cool and to top that off this year Orange is the new black!

Going out faster than Gordon brown is going to be drop-crotch trousers and you will have noticed that in the January sales any decent high street store will have reduced them and put them on the sale rail. This will mean of course all the scaly boys will convince themselves they are still cool, only because they can now afford them.

For anyone interested, there is of course a full array of photographs and pictures on GLLF facebook page, and you can look at the links and see the way its going for the new season. Also remember the page is also about general lifestyle, so feel free to add your own news views and links, so long as its not blatant advertising for some seedy back street business. Also I am keen to get some new admin’s to keep the page alive and boost membership, so feel free to message me if your interested.

I’m off for a Pimm’s and I hope to post an update on the page for our friends on Canal Street every few months to keep you up to date.

To see our Facebook.

Thanks

Paul
