The Co-operative is supporting a huge 15 LGBT pride events this summer

This year The Co-operative is proud to announce that we are supporting a huge fifteen lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) pride events across the UK.

Liz Bramley, The Co-operative's Head of Engagement & Diversity commented, "The level of support The Co-operative is showing the LGBT community all over the UK this year is unprecedented. The pride events are a brilliant way to spread the important messages of equality and celebrating difference to our employees, members and customers. The Co-operative was recently placed 11th in the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index and we are leading the way with the level of support we are showing to the LGBT community. We have a diverse workforce and all employees should feel and know they can be themselves whilst at work, irrespective of difference. We are proud to be flying the pride flag."

Thomas Anderson, Co-Chair of The Co-operative’s award winning lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) employee network Respect commented, “The support The Co-operative is showing to so many LGBT communities this summer is truly amazing to see and it really sets us apart from lots of other businesses. We are sponsoring lots of Community, Youth and Family Zones at many of the events and this support is aligned with The Co-operative’s values. As well as showing our support of LGBT pride events The Co-operative also supports lots of LGBT charities and organisations throughout the year including Lunch Positive in Brighton and the Lesbian and Gay Foundation (LGF). In the last three years The Co-operative has supported over 30 UK pride events. Anyone can join us in our parade entries - everyone is welcome."

Victoria Cowley, Co-Chair of the Respect network added, “The Respect network looks forward to working in collaboration with the regional Co-operative membership teams to make our involvement at the events a massive success. I hope lots of employees and members, and their friends and family, join us for what is shaping up to be a great summer that is going to be lots of fun. Let's be loud and proud together."
