Ben & Jerry's launch new ice-cream in support of gay marriage campaign
There's nothing more romantic than sharing a tub of Ben & Jerry's ice cream with the one you love and now your next scoop could help make gay marriage a reality in the UK.
The world famous ice cream makers have joined gay rights group Stonewall's marriage equality campaign and changed its Apple Pie flavor to Apple-y Ever After to make sure its customers know about the upcoming consultation on the British government's proposals.
A new app has also been launched on Facebook, asking users to ‘marry’ someone of the same sex to show their support for equality.
Ilaria Ida, Ben & Jerry’s European social mission manager, said: ‘This is a proud day for Ben & Jerry’s when we can show our support for a cause that’s at the core of our values.’
Stonewall’s campaign for equal marriage is supported by the leaders of all three main political parties.
This year Stonewall published a draft Parliamentary Bill to extend the legal form of marriage to same-sex couples, which it hopes will be included in the Queen’s Speech in May.
Apple-y Ever After will be available in selected Ben & Jerry's stores.
