BBC LGBT To Feature In This Year's Manchester Pride Parade
Monday 20 June 2011
The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) is the latest organisation to confirm their entry into this year’s Manchester Pride Parade, on Saturday 27 August.
BBC Pride, the BBC's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) network, are joining the parade at a pivotal point - as the Corporation moves many of its staff from London to Manchester's MediaCityUK in Salford Quays.
Chair of BBC Pride, Adrian Ruth said: “We’re really thrilled to be taking part in Manchester Pride this year. It’s a big year for us in the BBC, with so many of our staff relocating into our shiny new MediaCityUK base in Salford Quays – this is a great way to celebrate it.”
Jackie Crozier, festival director at Manchester Pride, said: “It is fantastic to have the BBC feature in this year’s parade. Not only is this special as it is our 21st birthday, but especially so as our parade’s theme is Best of British, and the BBC most definitely marks the top of that list. We can’t wait to see what the BBC has in store for us”.
Manchester Pride 2010 takes place from Friday 19 – Monday 29 August. For more information, visit: www.manchesterpride.com
