SUPERNATURE ON SUNDAY IS BACK THIS BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND

Free daytime party in the heart of Manchester

Supernature on Sunday returns for another bank holiday session at Underdog, New Wakefield Street on 28th May 2017. As usual the party starts at 3.00pm and runs through till 8 o’clock.

This month, joining resident DJs BB & Richie V, James the Cat and Rob Jones will be Your Disco Needs You regular Neil Craven.  And always one to support Manchester’s disco family we will be giving away wristbands for discounted entry to Qwerk’s May-hem night at Sub 101 in the Village, kicking off a couple of hours after Supernature finishes.

After a few Northern Quarter parties at the beginning of 2015 Supernature on Sunday moved to its now familiar home of Underdog in October of the same year and has been pumping out disco and house every month since. Carol ‘BB’ Bushell is responsible for bringing this much loved blowout to Manchester and has a habit of bringing together some of the best DJs in town to grace the decks on a Sunday afternoon.

The original Supernature team included BB and her vinyl obsessed husband, Richie V; Rob Jones (Qwerk, Your Disco Needs You, Mint, Psychedelic Disco Tech), James the Cat (producer & remixer) and Darren Greene (MVITA, Electric Elephant) and a host of guest record spinners including:

Chris Massey who is known around town for appearances at Homoelectric, the Warehouse Project, and Sankeys and who will appear for the third time at Supernature on Sunday in June; Neil Diablo, head honcho at Manchester’s El Diablo Social Club joined us last month; Jamie Bull, Homoelectric resident, named CityLife awards best club DJ 2015, will be with us in July; and Andi Hanley who represented Manchester at Body & Soul NYC for 15 years, working alongside the likes of Danny Krivit, Joaquin ‘Joe’ Claussell and François K, who is our guest for the August Bank Holiday party.

Supernature’s spiritual home at Underdog, a fabulous basement space beneath Black Dog Ballroom NWS, is the perfect coupling of venue and party.  The Supernature crew and punters love it there and the Black Dog team describe Supernature as a breath of fresh air.

Commenting on Supernature’s success BB said “Manchester’s club scene has always offered something special, something different to other cities and that’s what we’re trying to do with Supernature on Sunday.  All our parties are free of charge, they always have been, and our loyal crowd of Sunday worshippers are always super-friendly and up for it.”

She continued “We like to think of Supernature on Sunday as part of Manchester’s clubbing family and that’s why we’re offering our guests on 28th May the opportunity to carry on the party up in the village.  We’ll be giving away wristbands which will get you into Qwerk’s May-hem party for just a fiver so make sure you pick one up and join Faye and the crowd at Sub 101 where Liquorice Black will be hosting another Bank Holiday Qwerk special.”

Qwerk has been a Gay Village regular for two and a half years.  Its usual slot is the second Friday of the month but bank holiday weekends give them the chance to put a night on that weekend workers can enjoy too.

This month, alongside regular DJs Dave Booth and Marc Tribe, Qwerk will be joined by David Dunne & Andy Daniels of Triple Dee fame, ModelCitizen, and Jamie Bull from Homoelectric.

Faye Sanders, creator and promoter of Qwerk said “We encourage Qwerkers to be themselves and our doors are open to everyone regardless of age, gender or persuasion.  We’re a no-attitude zone with a wicked line-up and we’re absolutely thrilled to be welcoming the Supernature on Sunday crowd to make their afternoon of dancing into an all dayer.  We’re open from 10 o’clock right through to 8.00am and we can’t wait to show you what we’ve got to offer!”

So if you can handle a full day and night of Disco and House join us at Underdog on New Wakefield Street for Supernature on Sunday from 3.00pm and then later at Sub 101 just off Princess Street in the Gay Village from 10.00pm – we’ll see you on the dance floor!
