Alicya Eyo joins Manchester Pride

British soap star and actress Alicya Eyo becomes the latest patron for Manchester Pride.

Probably best known for her lesbian roles as Ruby Haswell in Emmerdale and Denny Blood in the critically acclaimed prison series Bad Girls, Eyo says she struggled with her sexuality when she was growing up.

Speaking at the launch of Manchester Pride 2013 Alicya said "I feel that become a patron of Manchester Pride is a natural step for me. I am proud to be associated with the important fund raising that Pride does for LGBT orinated charties and I hope that I can help to rasie further awareness of this vital work".

Eyo is also a patron of the LGBT Youth North West, which aims to provide services and support for young people in the English region.

Canal-st Sessions, with Billie Jean, should soon be recording an interview for Canal-st.
