4th Womens Comedy Festival for Oct

We are delighted to announce that the 4th Manchester’s Women In Comedy Festival returns later this year and now is Europe’s only comedy festival dedicated to gender equality and takes place annually in Manchester, UK during October. The Festival launched in 2013 as a volunteer-led festival presenting both established and up and coming talent across the spectrum of stand up comedy, comedy theatre, improv performing arts, film, spoken work and visual arts.

Described as one of ‘the UK's best comedy festivals’ (The Skinny) the fifth annual 2017 Women In Comedy Festival will take place from Thursday 19th until Sunday 29th October 2017 and submissions to perform at the festival are now open please visit www.womenincomedy.co.uk via the link below for details on how to apply.

Highlights from the past five festivals and sister projects have included Susan Calman (Dead Boss / The News Quiz), Roisin Conaughty (Game Face), Jo Neary (Miranda / Ideal), Zoe Lyons (Mock The Week), Jo Enright (The Job Lot / Pheonix Nights) , Janey Godley, The Birthday Girls, Gina Yashere, Sarah Millican, Shappi Khorshandi (Live at The Apollo), Shazia Mirza, Tanya Lee Davies (I am Spazicus)

‘Manchester’s homegrown Women In Comedy Festival (set up by Hazel O’Keefe) has found its feet in a very short space of time - only three years in attracting the likes of actress Maxine Peake as a patron, joining Jo Enright and Isy Suttie.’ M.E.N

The festival has grown steadily over the years since the first event in 2013 and encompasses showcases, galas, networking events, training, panels, debates and workshops. The Women In Comedy Festival also offers training and mentorship opportunities with industry professionals and other leading creative organisations.

‘It’s a very positive event, attracting massive headline acts.’ (Manchester Evening News)

Described as a ‘brilliant, brilliant festival’, full to the brim with female comedic talent. The festival is directed by Dulcet Sounds founder Hazel O’Keefe with the support of the crew, our main sponsors Laughology, Laughing Cows Comedy and our supporters, media partners and advertisers.

Actor Maxine Peake joined the team of festival patrons last year. “I’m proud to be supporting the UK Women in Comedy Festival as a patron. A festival filled with laughter combined with feminist principles taking place in the North … what’s not to support!”

The full festival program will be released in September 2017. Keep an eye out for announcements by signing up to our newsletter or follow us on Facebook or Twitter and please help us spread the work by sharing this event and invite people you feel may be interested.
