The widowed Dean of St Marvells, is an upright member of the community, with two daughters both of whom are coming of age and have suitors.
Into this tranquil scene appears his long estranged sister, merely for marrying a man who was a 'sportsman'. Breeding and racing horses for profit!
Brother and sister are reunited, because the righteous Dean has accepted her word that she no ‘longer owns a horse’.
The events unfold on the evening of a local costume ball, which the daughters are attending with their suitors, unbeknown to their Father, and on the eve on the St Marvells Hill race day.
Sufficed to say, revealing more of the plot would spoil the enjoyment of the play.
You can expect a thoroughly enjoyable evening watching this classic 'Especially when you have a sure tip!'
This new production starts Nicholas le Provost as the Dean and Patricia Hodge as Georgiana his sister.
